Your experience

A journey through history: Amsterdam's Jewish heritage

Go on an enlightening journey that will show you Amsterdam's Jewish history, starting at the remarkable 15th-century Waag building at Nieuwmarkt Square. With a choice of an English-speaking guide, you're led through a chronicle of the city's rich Jewish heritage, winding through noteworthy landmarks such as the Zuiderkerk, a 17th-century Protestant church, and Huis de Pinto, a mansion reflecting the affluence of a Sephardic Jewish family. Uncover how famed painter Rembrandt's art was influenced by his Jewish neighbors and the intriguing Stolpersteine – small memorial stones paying tribute to Holocaust victims.

An evocative voyage of remembrance and resilience

Learn about Anne Frank and her life while she was in hiding when she wrote her famous diary. You also have the option to choose between a 2 or 3-hour tour. The 2-hour tour covers spots such as the Portuguese Synagogue, a testament to Amsterdam's cultural diversity during the Golden Age. This tour concludes with a visit to the National Holocaust Names Monument. The 3-hour tour starts in the Jewish Quarter and will take you past the Trippenhuis Building on Amsterdam's Kloveniersburgwal canal, which once housed the Dutch East India Company.
